Weekend Report October 29, 2016
U8’s & U10’s
The U8’s and U10’s took part in a blitz hosted by Castleisland on Saturday. They played games against Tralee, Castleisland and Kenmare. Killorglin played some fantastic attacking rugby, top try scorers for the day were Aaron Doyle and Adam O’Neill. Other try scorers included Rian, Brian, Dan and Chris. There was brilliant tackling and rucking by Dylan, Leanne, Karen, Miles, Luke, Rory, Ultan, Zac, Orin and Paddy. The games were played in a great spirit, with all the players showing great determination and enthusiasm throughout the day. Thanks to Castleisland Rfc for hosting a great day.
U12’s
The U12’s had two teams to play on Saturday our first match was against Tralee, although the smaller squad, Killorglin were able to win the scrum on our 5 meter line. There was some great tackling and good work in building the phases up the pitch. The second match was against our hosts Castleisland, again we were against a larger opposition, good defensive kicking to touch gave us good line-out practice and a chance to win the ball and score. Thanks to players and parents travelling to Castleisland on a busy bank holiday.
U13’s
The U13’s took part in a blitz featuring Tralee, Corca Dhuibhne and Castleisland. Each team played three 15 a side games of 20 minutes on a full pitch, getting valuable experience of the U14 laws. Killorglin played some good rugby, learned a few lessons and finished 2nd overall. Team: Cillian Buckley, James Prendeville, Shane O Connor, Fionn Sheahan, Conor Spillane (c), Aona O Shea, Cian O Connor, Peadar Whelan, Kevin OCallaghan, Derry OSullivan, Sean Flynn, Ben ODwyer, Donncha Crowley, Fergal OShea. U18’s
Killorglin hosted Killarney on Saturday 29th October in fourth league match of the season. As Killarney had only 12 players on the day, the points were conceded to Killorglin and a 12 a side match played as a challenge. Weather conditions were perfect for running rugby and this was what the home team started with. Killarney put up strong resistance for the first 15 minutes until Darragh O’Shea crashed over near the posts for the lead. Shortly after this, a sweeping back movement put Rory Williams in space on the half way line out wide. Breaking two tackles and stepping the full back, he touched down under the posts for try number 2. Further tries arrived before half time for Daire Poff and Ruadhan O’Sullivan.
Killorglin made changes into the second half but continued to dominate with tries from Rory (again), Ciaran Foley, Mike O’Donoghue, Patrick Scannell and Jim Sugrue. Killarney rallied to score from a strong attack but the home team were very dominant and will need to keep this level of performance up next week against Corca Dhuibhne.
