It is a great honour and privilege for me to serve as President of Killorglin Rugby club for the 2016/17 season. Like my predecessors, I will strive to uphold the values and traditions that this club has stood for since its foundation.
As President I extend a warm welcome to all our visitors to our home grounds this season, in particular our visiting teams, their officials and supporters. We also welcome all the referees and match officials who will come to our club during the season to facilitate our games.
The club is settling in to its new home in Ballymalis and we thank the Eadie family for their generosity and support. We plan to upgrade the facilities over the next few years to a standard that our players and members deserve. This could not happened without the support of our members, the local community, the hard work of various development and fundraising committees and the generous support of numerous sponsors. I thank everyone for their contribution to improving our facilities both on and off the pitch.
A sincere thank you to our club management committee and all the other sub committees for their tireless work to develop and grow the club.
I wish Dave Coffey, Karl Daly and the senior team the best of luck for the upcoming Munster Junior League campaign and all other competitions this season. Best of luck also to the captains, coaches and the management teams of all the underage teams in the Club in all the competitions they compete in this season.
Good luck to our underage section for the coming year and thank you to the coaches, managers, and parents for all your work in looking after this integral part of our club. Your continued efforts will hopefully provide the members of our adult teams in the years to come.
A special word for all those who already volunteer within the club. Without those who give selflessly of their time to help with the organisation of teams, coaching, medical assistance, fundraising, maintenance etc., this club would not function as well as it does. I would appeal for more members to please come forward and play a more active role in any area of the club where you feel you can make a contribution.
I would like to thank all our sponsors for their continued support and I would appeal to everyone to make a conscious effort to support them during the year.
Finally, I would like to wish all our members, their families and friends a successful and enjoyable season and I look forward to meeting with you all during the season.
Yours in rugby,
President, Killorglin RFC 2016/17
