The game played in good conditions provided an opportunity for both teams to improve their match sharpness before the Munster league starts. Two tries for Darragh Fitzgerald, one each for Richard Wallace and Sean Breandan O’Beaglioch with conversions by Jamie O’Leary. Great support which is very encouraging for the players

J1 Division 3 Douglas/Carrigaline v Killorglin RFC
This past Sunday Killorglin traveled to Moneygourney for there second game of the league to take on Douglas/Carrigaline. The men from Puck started with great intensity, Tiarnan Clifford set a strong tone early with a massive tackle to push Douglas/Carrigaline deep into there own 22. An effective line out and a great drive from Captain Tony Lynch saw him get over the line for the games first try. The second try for Killorglin came soon after, full back Dave Coffey found space up the right wing and popped the ball to a speedy Tiarnan Clifford outside of him. Tiarnan did very well to stay in bounds and he crashed over for the games 2nd try. From the restart Killorglin looked threatening again this time on the left wing. Rodi Healy found Neil O’Shea flying down the wing and Neil did well to touch down the games third try. This was Neil O’Shea first try in a Killorglin senior jersey and we are sure there are many more to come from him. It wasn’t long before Killorglin got their bonus point try. From a good scrum John Michael Cronin O’Reilly broke through the line and got the ball to Cathal Doyle who dove over the line for his 1st and Killorglins 4th try of the game. Luke O’Shea converted to add the extra 2 points. Before half time Douglas managed to get back a try of their own that they failed to convert. At halftime the scoreline read Killorglin 22 Douglas 5. It was long into the second half until Killorglin got on the board again. Cathal Doyle read the play well and intercepted the ball, he turned on the jets and ran in another try in from about 40 meters out. Luke again did the honours and added the extras. Cathal went on to score 2 more tries bringing his tally to 4 on the day. Tiarnan also got over the try line again, he received a very unselfish pass from Andrew O’Reilly and he touched down in the corner. Luke O’Shea converted 5 of the 8 tries to leave the final scoreline 50-5 for Killorglin. It was a great team effort with some excellent play coming from the whole team. Rob Lynch deserves a special mention as the rookie stepped up to play hooker and was very effective with his throws in the line out and his tackling in open play as well. Well done to all involved, the team look forward to welcoming Fermoy to Ballymalis in 2 weeks time. This game promises to be a cracker, you won’t want to miss it!
