Weekend Report November 19th & 20th 2016
U9’s & U10’s
On Saturday the 19th Dingle traveled to Ballymallis to play our U9s and U10s in friendly games, these games served as great preparation for the upcoming blitz to be played in Dingle next Saturday. The U10 squad consisted of Rian, Adam, Aaron, Chris, Jack, Adrian, Zac and Brian. The u9s included Miles, Leanne, Karen, Dylan, Daniel, Evan, Luke and Oran. Both teams played some outstanding rugby, special mention must go to Jack and Adrian who were playing their first games-not that you would have guessed! Thanks to Dingle for traveling and for being involved in very competitive and sporting matches.
U12’s
U12’s had a great friendly against Chorca Dhuibhne, some good tackling and try’s throughout the game. Great effort was put in by both teams and it was a very competitive match. A special thanks to all who provided food for the tea afterwards we are all looking forward to the blitz back west in Ballydavid next Saturday. Finally the highlight of the day was from the Dingle coach who’s son scored his first competitive try on the day after playing minis for 3 years, it made his day. Well done to all involved
U14’s
Our U14’s made hard work of defeating Listowel in excellent conditions last Saturday at Ballymalis. Close to full strength for the first time this year we had the better of the play in the first half with our scrum completely dominant (just as well given the number of knock ons conceded) good defense on the wing from Joe Cronin-Langham and strong carrying from Jack O’Brien, Jack O’Leary, Conall Whelan and Cara Mangan. Listowel’s big pack defended fiercely but still we should have had three or four tries only for basic mistakes. At halftime the match remained scoreless. The second half brought some improvement and Dara Mangan went over for a try, converted by Conor Spillane, followed shortly after by a well deserved Jack OBrien try (unconverted). Listowel to their credit never gave up and were rewarded with a seven pointer in the dying minutes. Final score 12-7. The team were glad to register the second win of the season, but all concerned know we can play much better. Next up Tralee in two weeks time. Team James Byrne, Joe Cronin Langham, Dara Mangan, James Treacy, Donncha Crowley, Conor Spillane, Aona O’Shea, Mike Teahan, Peadar Whelan, Cian O’Connor, JP Courtney, Conall Whelan (c), Jack O’Brien, Ben O’Dwyer, Jack O’Leary. Subs James Prendeville, Fergal O’Shea, Anthony Kelliher, Derry O’Sullivan, Fionn Sheahan, Sean Flynn, Kelan Golden.
U16’s
Killorglin hosted Listowel on Sunday. Killorglin displayed a running game and phased play that resulted in scores from open play. Killorglin played with confidence when wall was in hand and persevered to break down the relentless Listowel defense to capitalize on the possession. Killorglin maintained the pressure in the second half resulting in further scores that saw them outright winners. U 16 next league outing is in two weeks against Killarney.
