Our Club President Goes The Extra Mile

  • March 2, 2018
A few weeks back our seniors traveled to Ennis and they were very short on numbers due to injuries from the wear and tear of the grueling season. Our only sub was our Club President Colm Conway. Colm retired in 2015 after he had, what we thought was, a career ending injury, he ripped the hamstring off the bone 6 months before Paul O’Connell suffered the same fate, except Colm did it with out the oxygen tank!
Against Ennis Colm went beyond the call of duty and after an early injury to one of our players Colm togged out for his first game in 3 years and played 79 minutes. From the moment he stepped onto the pitch Colm made an immediate impact on the game, hitting rucks with serious force, making tackles and even filling in a scrum half here and there. He certainly did not look like a man who hadn’t played a game in 3 years. A natural leader Colm took over the captaincy role when our captain was injured and forced off the field. The entire second half Killorglin played with 14 men and while the score didn’t go our way we couldn’t of been prouder of the teams performance and of Colm’s dedication to his Club. Colm has been involved for the club since it re founded in 1999/2000. He was player/coach for many years and is now our president.  We are very lucky to have him
