Like Father Like Son

This past weekend our senior team played Douglas-Carrigaline in the second round of the Junior Martin O’Sullivan Cup. It was a great day for the club as our seniors were the victors with a great 25-16 win. After the match there was a special presentation to long time Killorglin Rugby Club member Andrew O’Reilly and his son Callum. Andrew has been involved in the club since it was reformed back in 2000. He has been a dedicated member of our senior squad since then, and if that doesn’t keep him busy enough, he also volunteers his time coaching our minis. Callum has been involved with Killorglin Rugby Club since Under 8’s and is now playing his first year at the Under 12 age group.

A few weeks ago a picture was taken of Andrew offloading to an oncoming teammate. Last year an almost identical picture was taken of Callum doing his fathers trademark move. Proof that the combination of good rugby genes and excellent coaching and sending Callum well on his way to being a talented rugby player just like his father.

The club presented Andrew with a plaque capturing these two images in a bid to say thanks for his great service, and we hope he is a long way off from retirement!
